Overview
Pnakys is a falling-ball puzzle game by Torlus for the Game Boy Advance, made for the first PDRoms coding competition and released into the public domain. He based it on Pnickies, an old arcade game that mixes Tetris with Bust-a-Move, and wanted a simple game you could pick up anywhere, any time.
Balls fall in pairs. Balls of the same colour that touch merge into a group, and a group explodes once it holds two balls with a star in them, so the trick is to let a group grow before you bring in its second star: the bigger the group, the bigger the score. In later levels parasites fall too, and only an explosion next to one gets rid of it.
There are two modes. Normal mode plays the usual way up. Vertical mode turns the well on its side, made for holding the Game Boy Advance rotated, which gives larger balls. The five best scores are kept with a three-letter name, and How to Play shows a short demonstration.
