    Overview

Data Storm is a Master System clone of Turmoil, an Atari 2600 game. Haroldo O. Pinheiro made a first, unfinished version for SMS Power's 2012 competition, and four years later resumed development on it for the 2016 competition.

Pressing up or down moves your ship up and down the middle alley of the screen, and pressing left or right turns it to face, or travel, down the lanes. Your ship is always on rapid fire, and oodles of bullets can be on the screen at once, so you can enjoy destroying more aliens, more often.

You begin the game with five ships. Blast all of the aliens in a level and you receive a bonus ship, up to six at a time; ships are destroyed by running into passing aliens. The aliens travel back and forth across the screen at their own unique paces, and the faster they move, the more points they are worth.

    Tips

    1. Each lane holds only one of your shots at a time, and you fire only while sitting in the centre alley, so sweep up and down to keep bullets flying in several lanes at once.
    2. Shoot Arrows the moment they appear. One that crosses the screen comes back as a Tank, which can only be killed from behind.
    3. To kill a Tank, let it pass the alley, then turn to face its tail; firing at its nose only shoves it back a few pixels.
    4. A Prize is worth 80 points but the indestructible Ghost Ship comes along the same lane as soon as you take it. Grab it and head straight back to the alley.
    5. Cannon Balls are worth the most at 90 points and keep bouncing back and forth, so line one up and shoot it rather than leaving it in a lane you need.
