    Overview

Double Action Blaster Guys is NovaSquirrel's sequel to Forehead Block Guy, his entry in the 2011 NESdev competition. It was completely rewritten, so it's nowhere near as buggy as the original, and rewritten with two simultaneous players in mind, hence pluralizing Guy in the title.

Complete the objectives for each level to move on to the next one, while avoiding any hazards like enemy bullets. Some levels ask you to defeat a number of enemies, others to collect dollars, survive for a set time, or turn every green block red.

The game has 32 levels, over a dozen enemy types plus a final boss, and several types of blocks rather than just the solid and empty ones of the original. Either player can join in at any time by pressing A and B, and a level editor is included.

    Tips

    1. Shots stun enemies rather than destroying them. Run into a stunned enemy to finish it off and score its points, and do it quickly before it recovers; touching one that isn't stunned hurts you.
    2. Tougher enemies soak up a few shots before they are stunned, so keep firing at them from a safe distance instead of rushing in after the first hit.
    3. Hold B while you run and jump: the running speed carries through the jump, which gets you across wide gaps and away from bullets.
    4. Thin platforms can be dropped through with Down + A, which is often the fastest way to reach an enemy or a dollar below you.
    5. A second player can drop in at any moment with A + B on controller 2, which is handy in survival levels or when one player is in trouble.

Press Select during play. The current level ends at once and the next one starts, so you can jump ahead to later stages and the final boss.
