    Overview

Falling is a small NES game written in 6502 assembly by tragicmuffin. You fall endlessly through the sky past drifting clouds, steering left and right to dodge the rocky ledges that rise up towards you and to catch coins on the way down. Every coin is a point, and you have three lives to see how many you can collect.

It was the author's first assembly program and first game designed from scratch, made in about 130 hours over 11 days and finished in January 2018. The title screen offers Day, Sunset and Night modes, which change the colours of the sky and the music.

    Tips

    1. A ledge only hurts while it is level with your feet. Once it has risen past them you can move across under it, so wait beside a ledge and slip over as soon as it clears your feet.
    2. Ledges get a new random position each time they leave the top of the screen; watch the bottom edge to see where the next one comes from.
    3. Coins and extra lives float up just like the ledges. Line up under one early instead of chasing it sideways at the last moment.
    4. The game clock stops while paused, so pausing doesn't bring the faster stages any sooner.
    5. Mode only changes the look and music; the game plays the same in Day, Sunset and Night.
