    Overview

Grub Glide is a homebrew Game Boy game by Ethan Hazel, made with the GBDK C library for making Game Boy games.

The author admits he is not an expert in C; this was in fact his first time actually using it, so the code could probably be optimized better than it is. He gives big thanks to gingemonster for his tutorials on GBDK, without whose videos he says he wouldn't have been able to get nearly as far into the project as he did.

The game itself needs only one instruction, printed at the bottom of the screen before each flight: hold A to fly.

    Tips

    1. Only one ring is on screen at a time and the next one appears at a random height the moment you pass through, so start climbing or sinking toward it straight away.
    2. Rising and sinking top out at the same speed and the grub turns around within a few frames, so short taps of A give much finer control than long holds.
    3. The ring is tall but the window for passing it is short; line up with its middle well before it reaches the grub instead of correcting at the last second.
    4. After 150 points the rings stop speeding up, so the hardest stretch is getting from 100 to 150; past that the pace stays the same up to the 999 cap.
    5. Only A on its own counts as flapping: if another button is held at the same time the grub just falls.
