    Overview

Dawn Will Come is a survival RPG for the Game Boy, made in GB Studio for the Game Boy Competition 2021. Each day you give every survivor one task. Resting will recover some health, but unguarded sleepers may be attacked in the night. Guarding will protect your sleepers and supplies, but your guards may have to fight. Searching will potentially get you useful supplies and new friends, but searchers may take damage from prowling monsters.

You start with one of five survivors and can find the other four while searching. Each of the five locations hides its own boss, and the journal cards you unlock stay unlocked from one run to the next. Art is by H0lyhandgrenade and eishiya, writing and design by H0lyhandgrenade, programming by eishiya and music by Kezia Salmon. The authors warn that it contains death, low-resolution gore, body horror, animal harm and stalking, and that the screen flashes in combat.

    Tips

    1. Shots in a row build a combo: from the second shot on, each one deals 1 extra damage, until someone uses a special.
    2. A location's boss only turns up while the survivor tied to it guards there at level 3 or higher: Dr. Saman at the hospital, Dakota at the school, Ivor at the library, Randy at the office and Dozer at the warehouse.
    3. Moving uses food and your guards have to fight on the way, so assign guards before you travel.
    4. Every 11 days a Blood Moon makes searching hurt more. Keep your wounded survivors at camp that day.
    5. Monsters get stronger after day 64 and again after day 128. Dawn comes after a little over 200 days: sooner if food and Medkits have run out by then, later if you are well stocked with food, Medkits and Revives.
